Principal Commercial OfficerLocation: Stevenage Hybrid: 2–3 days per weekSalary: £50,000 The OpportunityA leading European defence organisation is seeking a skilled Principal Commercial Officer to support vital programmes delivering advanced defence capability to the UK Armed Forces and key international customers. This role plays a critical part at the front end of the product lifecycle, contributing to research, technology development, business winning and contract delivery.The CompanyAs one of Europe's foremost Defence & Security providers, the organisation delivers advanced systems and technologies that strengthen resilience and support strategic partners worldwide. You will join a collaborative, high-performing commercial function operating at the heart of major defence programmes.Required Skills/ExperienceSecurity Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK (British citizenship essential)Advanced negotiation and stakeholder engagement skillsExperience managing complex, high-value contractsStrong understanding of contract law and commercial principlesAbility to draft, adapt and negotiate contractual terms & conditionsKnowledge of liabilities, risk mitigation and change managementAwareness of Intellectual Property, Export Controls and licensing requirementsCommercial acumen from customer through to supplierAbility to interpret and work with pricing and costing modelsStrong process, governance and commercial administration capabilityProficient in IT and business systems (SAP experience highly desirable)Benefits PackageBase Salary: Circa £50,000 (DoE)Annual Bonus: Up to £2,500Overtime: Optional paid overtimeFlexi Leave: Up to 15 additional daysHolidays: 25 days plus bank holidaysPension: Up to 14% combined contributionShare Incentive Plan: Option to purchase shares before tax and NIParental Benefits: Up to 26 weeks of enhanced pay for maternity, paternity, adoption, neonatal and shared parental leaveFacilities: Subsidised meals, free parking and excellent on-site amenitiesIf this sounds like something you would be interested in putting forward an application for.
