**Works Supervisor | East Peckham, Kent | Full Time | £34,248 for both internal and external applicants**

The Upper Medway IDB is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated person to join the office team as a Works Supervisor. Working alongside the Clerk and Works Supervisor initially, you will learn about the drainage district, its needs and requirementsfor water level control, and the unique challenges it faces in providing flood risk management. You will be taught about the rating systems, the laws that govern the Board, and the practical implementation of policy, all the while improving your administrativeand man management skills.

Working on 12-month probationary basis you will have appraisals at 3, 6 and 12 months to ensure suitability and long-term compatibility for the role.

**Are you the right person for the job?**
- Experienced in managing small teams of highly trained ground staff
- Strong understanding of H&S legislation and practice.
- Have a good knowledge of ground works, maintenance works, flood management solutions, and water level control.
- Excellent knowledge of agricultural and building plant, specifically tractors, excavators, arboriculture, and portable pumping equipment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general familiarity with computers.
- Desire towards learning and self-development.
- Ability to work outside as well as in an office environment.
- Full, clean UK driving license.

Advantageous
- Knowledge of budgets and budgeting
- Knowledge of appraisals and HR law.
- Knowledge of biodiverse and conservation practice in a water environment including biosecurity processes.
- Extensive local knowledge of West Kent, East Sussex, and East Surrey

**This role will include, but is not limited to**
- Leading discussion and working closely with the Clerk to manage works programming.
- Monitor and organise ground staff, contractors, and other interested parties.
- Implement Health and Safety systems in conjunction with the Clerk.
- Work with the Clerk and Board Committees to ensure the Board activities comply with legislation.
- Liaise with landowners, utility companies and all interested parties where required (Line search, access arrangements etc.).
- Provide advice on land drainage issues, water control structure construction, and initiatives.
- Provide advice and recommendations on the purchase of plant and equipment.
- Assist the Clerk with the digital systems relating to works and safety.
- Use and maintain the company online data collection systems.
- Carry out land enquiries via Land Registry to ascertain registered owners of land in the district.
- Take calls and filter jobs to various other members of staff.
- Assist other members of the office as required.

**Training Opportunities**
- The Board offers training in H&S, Microsoft Office, water level management, and other specific skills as required.
- Regular appraisals will document your progress and address areas for improvement and training, while offering support and aid during your probation period and employment.
- There may be a need to sign a term-based contract to ensure service time to the Board after receipt of certain training.
