**Permanent part time Support Workers required for various day shifts, morning and/or afternoon, plus weekend shifts, based in Romsey, Southampton, working with a ten year old boy. Ainscough Associates Ltd, a case management company, is assisting theclient and his family in recruiting and employing Support Workers.**

**Pay rate: £13 Monday to Friday**

**£15 on Saturday and Sunday**

**Permanent part time roles**:We have a fantastic opportunity for **Daytime Support Workers, working mornings and/or afternoon shifts,** to work directly with one of our clients in their amazing family home. The family has not had carers before so the new care team, to consist of about eight staff members, will work in pairs and will be trained to providing additional support to a delightfulten year old boy who has complex medical needs.

**Shifts in Term Time**:
**Morning shifts**: Working from 5.45am to 8.45am from Monday to Friday each week during term time.

**Afternoon shifts**: Working from 4.30pm to 8.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week during term time.

**Weekends throughout the year**:
**Saturday** 7am to 1pm

**Shifts in school holidays / non term time**:
**Full day shifts**:8am to 8pm on three days a week between Monday and Friday

**Requirements**: We are seeking people with an interest in working with children, devising play and sensory activities once his health needs have been met. Personality and willingness to learn are as important as experience as training willbe given, but an acceptance of and interest in complex medical care is necessary as you will be taught to give meds and assist with peg feeding. The ability to drive is not essential but preferable. We are seeking people who are interested in learning to recogniseour client, 'E’s, ways: you must be attentive and observant, picking up on his cues and getting to know and support him.

**About Our Client**

Our client, 'E’, is ten years old and is a very happy and sociable boy. He loves to be outdoors and getting involved in all activities. He is a real thrill seeker and loves to give everything a go. He enjoys baking, arts and crafts and making lots of messHe has a great sense of humour and is great fun to be around.

E has significant complex medical and care needs. E has cerebral palsy, epilepsy which results in regular seizures, a gastrostomy PEG for all nutrients, fluids, and medication, which is required daily. He is totally dependent on others and will have 2:1care. He requires hoisting, cannot walk, is non-verbal but has a communications device and can communicate 'Yes’ and 'No’. He has an X Panda chair and he lives with his family in their amazing home, which is a non-smoking environment. E’s mother works collaborativelywith the carers and will be a valuable part of the team.

The home has a carers’ room with a kitchenette and bathroom close to E’s room on the ground of the family home. (He will eventually have night-time care too.) The home is in Romsey, seven miles from Southampton.

**Experience required**

You will have the following experience and qualities:

- Ideally an experienced Carer/Care Worker/Support Worker, possibly with NVQ Health & Social Care
- Experience with clients with cerebral palsy
- Good standard of written and spoken English is essential
- Excellent observation skills and a high level of competency are essential
- Proven experience of managing a complex needs client would be preferable
- Experience of working with young people or children would be helpful
- Hands-on experience dealing with peg tube feeding is ideal but training will be given

All staff must be dedicated to the client and committed to the job. At Ainscough we support Support Workers to get the best training possible before working with E. You will have a Case Manager and HR Consultant to advise and support you throughout yourtime with our client.

All staff will complete an induction and full training programme which includes safeguarding best practice and courses beneficial to you in your career. These are paid by the employer.
