To ensure the safe and efficient operation of Chipping Sodbury quarry on a day to day basis in conjunction with the Site Manager and their team.

**Description of Team / Department**

Aggregates

**Purpose of / Responsibilities of the role**
- Ensure the safety and compliance of all operations in the quarry
- Oversee the extractive operations in East Brinsham, West Brinsham and Hampstead Quarries
- Work closely with the Unit manager and Shotfiring Contractors, to manage shotfiring operations.
- Assist with balancing the Production, commercial, financial and maintenance priorities of the operation
- To assist in purchasing spares, materials and services as required for effective running of the operation at the most cost effective price possible
- To assist the Site Manager in the completion of Period End Profit
- Estimations by the compilation of stock returns, production & breakdown analysis, written summary, expenditure database. Provision of above information to be in electronic form as appropriate
- To compile accurate maintenance records and ensure that servicing and repairs are carried out as programmed by the Site Manger
- To maintain good working relationships and communication between the management and employees and notify the Site Manager if problems are developing
- To liaise and discuss with the Site Manager any training requirements for the staff under your control and to ensure that all new employees have received the induction training and appropriate specialised training where relevant

**Skills / Experience**
- Preferred 3-5 years Quarry experience.
- Experience of operation Heavy mobile plant.
- Experience of drill and blast operations with proven competence in form of Shotfiring NVQ.
- SHE NVQ L4 (or willingness to achieve this qualification)
