**Job overview**:
A Vacancy has arisen for a Health and Safety Advisor to join NSFT’s Risk Management Team for a fixed term period of 12 months. The Trust supports “Hybrid” working and will be flexible about working from home where possible. Work bases can be provided in Norfolk or Suffolk. The role will consist of working from home or the nearest workplace with site visits undertaken as and when required across Norfolk and Suffolk.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with strong communication skills to provide Health & Safety related advice and support in line with current regulations and legislation (including local Policy and Procedure)

**Main duties of the job**:
Key duties will include supporting risk assessments, undertaking health and safety inspections, providing advice and support, escalating concerns to the relevant management lines, supporting COVID risk assessments and providing health and safety related training.

**Working for our organisation**:

- demonstrate excellent organisational skills, and an ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- travel independently and hold a full UK driving licence.
- be proficient at maintaining records and statistical information and converting information into required format for reports.
- demonstrate ability to work dynamically, unsupervised on own initiative and as part of a team.
- have sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office software (including Word, Excel and Outlook).

The post holder will be expected to work on a Monday - Friday basis (37.5 hrs a week).

**Qualifications**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Certificated member of IOSH by examination, working towards Chartered membership. PTLLS or equivalent education and training award

**Desirable criteria**:

- Chartered member of IOSH

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience in risk management or public service setting in a health and safety practitioner post. Day-to-day management of H&S issues in a health care environment.

**Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Verbal & written skills. Ability to establish credibility and working relationships with all staff levels. Prioritise workloads.

**Knowledge**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Ability to interpret complex H&S legislation and identify the implication for the Trust.

**Other**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Effective influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to design and deliver training sessions and other learning events.
- Full UK driving licence

**Desirable criteria**:

- Knowledge of incident reporting databases especially Datix.
