**Kitchen Assistant (Fixed Term Contract**: 9 months)
**Location**: Aylesbury
**Salary**: Up to £12.64 per hour
**Hours**: 21hrs per week

**MAIN PURPOSE**:

- To assist in the daily preparation of cooked nutritious meals for service users ensuring food is of a high quality
- To ensure health, safety, environment and hygiene standards are achieved and maintained.

**MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- May be required to deputise in absence of Chef
- To assist in the planning and preparation a varied choice of menus, ensuring properly balanced and nutritious meals are provided, taking into account any special dietary requirements and service user preferences
- To follow any dietary or food preparation guidelines as provided in service user care plans and guidance by health care professionals
- To assist in ensuring that the storage, preparation and cooking of all food is carried out using the highest standards of hygiene
- To assist the Chef in maintaining appropriate levels of stock and may be required to place orders of food when required
- Ensure responsibilities with regards to Food Hygiene and preparation and Health and Safety requirements are followed and to inform the Chef of anything that does not meet required standards
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with the service users, contributing to the creation of a homely and pleasant living environment for each service user

**ABOUT YOU**:

- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience of working in a kitchen environment
- Awareness of COSHH requirements
- A knowledge of portion, stock control and food cost control
- Customer care skills
