Camhs Youth Offending Mental Health Practitioner
22 hours ago
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic CAMHS mental health practitioner to work within the Bedfordshire Youth Offending Service.
We are looking for a mental health nurse who has substantial experience working in children’s mental health services (CAMHS) and has significant experience working in crisis situations. The Youth Offending Service is uniquely placed to provide the post holder with the opportunity for a new challenge where they can be creative in engaging hard to reach young people, whilst immersing themselves into all the youth justice arena has to offer. The post holder will be offered a robust training package from our youth offending colleagues, as well as support to access further training within CAMHS that will complement the role.
This is a multi - agency provision where joint and cross agency working is essential to improving the mental health outcomes of the young people we are working with. You will be part of a wider multi - disciplinary health team which includes a physical health nurse, speech and language therapist and drug and alcohol worker.
The post holder will hold a caseload of young people referred through the Youth Offending Service (YOS) case managers, and will work within the principles of the agreed model of care for the service as laid down in the CAMHS/YOS operational policy. Assessments in police custody will also form a part of the role.
The post holder will work as an autonomous and accountable practitioner within an integrated team. This will involve the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care provided and effective liaison with all agencies involved with the service user.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
This is a community based post, embedded within the Bedfordshire Youth Offending Service (BYOS). Predominantly this service will be delivered within the YOS and will include the provision of specialist advice/consultation and CAMHS mental health assessment. The post is closely linked to Bedfordshire and Luton CAMHS and will be held under the CAS pathway (Community Access Service). The post will also include liaison with other agencies, specialised clinical interventions and the support, clinical supervision and teaching of multi-agency staff and students.
