We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate assistant psychologist to join the Staff Psychology Team at North Bristol NHS Trust, as part of our award-winning Trust-wide Staff Wellbeing Service.
PLEASE BE AWARE THIS VACANCY MAY CLOSE EARLY IF WE RECEIVE HIGH VOLUMES OF APPLICATIONS
This Staff Psychology Assistant Psychology post offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and organised psychology graduate with an interest in how to support colleague, team, and organisational wellbeing. The post holder will work in close liaison with psychologists and administrators in the team, providing a flexible support role, often at short notice. The post holder will support the delivery of 1:1, group, and team-based interventions, development of creative and engaging resources (e.g., leaflets and presentations), and play a key role in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative data. The post holder will have the opportunity be involved in the direct clinical work, on an individual and group / team basis, as appropriate and according to experience, with regular supervision.
The role is an excellent opportunity for a psychology graduate to develop their clinical and non-clinical skills in an exciting and evolving area of clinical psychology, to support progress towards a career in clinical psychology. The service has close links with the Bath Clinical Psychology training programme, offering elective trainee placements and teaching to third year Doctoral trainees.
We recognise how important it is that staff feel valued, connected, and supported in order to stay well, enjoy their work, and provide the high quality and compassionate care to patients that they aspire to do.
The Staff Psychology Team provides a range of responsive and well as pro-active support to staff. The service has a particular ethos in supporting relational and team wellbeing, recognising that wellbeing and resilience are often more helpfully seen as being fostered by strong, supportive connections between us, not just within us.
The service provides bespoke team support tailored to individual needs, a comprehensive staff trauma support pathway, workshops on a range of themes (e.g. psychological safety, coping with challenging circumstances), facilitated supervision groups, specific support for senior doctors, managers and leaders, and specialist 1:1 specialist psychological support (including trauma focused work) as well as signposting to counselling services (e.g. through the external Employee Assistant Programme). The service also provides speciality support for senior doctors, working closely with our Senior Doctor Wellbeing medical leads. The service has been integral to supporting staff during the COVID pandemic and beyond.
Alongside psychology, the NBT wellbeing service offers a range of other support for staff including lifestyle support through the Employee Assistance Programme and physical health support through Physio Direct.
