**Youth Worker Education & Inclusion**

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bury Council’s Family Help Service and help with our ‘Let’s Do it for Children’ vision.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Education & Inclusion Youth Worker practitioner initially for a 1-year fixed term position. The primary focus of the role will be to support young people either returning to education following elective home education (EHE) or child missing education (CME) episodes, or where there have been concerns around attendance predominantly relating to Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH).

**About You**

As the dedicated Education & Inclusion Youth Worker, you will provide time limited periods of intervention (between 6 12 weeks) to young people who have been identified as requiring support to transition back into a school setting, or to improve their attendance at school.

This youth worker role is intended to provide targeted one to one and group work support to young people to support them back into education. Most of these young people will be facing multiple barriers and complex issues that will need to be sensitively managed, and support tailored to their individual needs. As the dedicated Youth Worker, you will ensure that young people have a say and that the service meets their identified needs. The services will be delivered in a variety of settings and will include one to one work and may also include group work if need necessitates.

As the Education & Inclusion Youth Worker, you will identify, plan and deliver suitable positive activity programmes that will engage young people within the Borough and help them to reach their full potential through one-to-one work, and group work where needed.

You will work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure young people can access all the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week, however, this will be flexible dependent on service requirements, and you may be required to work on a flexibly between 7am and 9pm on a rota basis.

You will need to hold a JNC (Joint Negotiating Committee) recognised national or local youth work qualification (NVQ3 equivalent) or degree level qualification in a related field. Or an NVQ Level 4/professional qualification in Youth Work, Teaching, Social Work, Careers Guidance, etc.
