Designated Safeguarding Lead

The Resourcing Hub is looking to recruit a Designated Safeguarding lead to join their client's Bolton-based, children's residential provider.
The DSL will work closely with the Strategic Head of Service and Service Manager in delivering continuous improvements and the highest quality standards of care and support to young people.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Responsible for safeguarding the interests of the children supported in the homes.
- Facilitate training and development for the workforce to ensure that early identification of the signs and symptoms of abuse or individuals at risk, to comply with legislation and local and national policy relating to safeguarding practice.
- To case manage complaints and safeguarding issues, assisting with the delivery of recommended actions, and learning points.
- In conjunction with the Service Manager, support the development and implementation of quality assurance systems and monitoring tools to report and audit the quality of the service provision.
- To collate and analyse the data arising from the various quality assurance methods and reporting to the Director, senior management, and other groups as appropriate.
- To advise and contribute to any corrective action to assist with the improvement of practice.
**MAIN DUTIES**
- Ensure that the Company is meeting its legal and statutory requirements in relation to safeguarding.
- Undertake regular review of safeguarding policy and activity, and where required, updating safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are fully implemented and adhered to by all employees.
- Provide support, supervision and advice for any employee or young person with a safeguarding concern.
- Keep knowledge, skills, and abilities up to date by accessing appropriate resources and training.
- Provide safeguarding induction for new employees and ensure that all employees are trained to the required standard in safeguarding children.
- Keep all employees informed of good practice and changes to legislation and guidance.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the referral obligations to the appropriate agencies.
- Assess safeguarding practices and produce accurate and appropriately evidenced outcome reports.
- Manage allegations against employees.
- Develop and manage clear, accurate and secure recording systems.
- Work with the Service Manager to ensure that the quality of practice and services can be continually monitored against local and national standards and frameworks using quality assurance methods and audit tools.
- Collate and analyse the data arising from the various quality assurance methods and report to the senior management team, and other groups as appropriate.
- Manage time effectively to ensure that quality assurance audits are productive, robust, consistent, and effective.
- Assist in writing and updating procedures, policies, learning resources and training materials where required, to support good practice across the homes.
- Raise standards within our homes by effective co-working, coaching, and mentoring.
- To monitor the homes’ development of relevant and appropriate post regulatory visit action plans and support them to achieve improvement within required timeframes, taking on key actions and delivering on areas that fall withing your skill set.
- Remain up to date in the children’s social care field and to proactively share with the workforce.
- Provide out of hours advice if required and as part of a shared rota.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection if required.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**:
- Experience of working in qualified social work positions working with children, young people, and their families.
- Minimum of 2 years management experience in residential childcare
Excellent knowledge of the legislative framework and national and local standards and procedure relating to children’s services.
- Excellent IT skills. Must be able to develop audit tools, quality assurance processes, collate and analyse data and produce reports.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Confidence and ability to effectively challenge managers regarding quality and compliance.
- Must be able to plan and prioritise workloads to meet strict deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated and able to motivate others.
