**JOB TITLE**:Domestic Assistant

**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Housekeeper

**HOURS**:To work flexible hours, sometimes at short notice. Weekend work may be required. To help in other areas if required**.**

**PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE**:
Domestic Assistants must have a sympathetic understanding of the needs of elderly people and their families. Must also be reliable and physically fit.

Staff are required to respect confidentiality in all matters that they might learn in the course of their employment. All staff are expected to respect the requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998. All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

**PRINCIPLE DUTIES**
- Routine to be worked out with the Manager or Assistant Manager. To include the thorough cleaning of the home.
- Be responsible for the daily cleaning of all bathrooms and toilets, both communal and in resident’s bedrooms. Each bedroom in turn should be cleaned thoroughly, shelves wiped etc..
- Be responsible for the taking down of curtains when they need washing and shampooing of carpets under direction of the Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Ensure removal of dead flowers, watering plants, removal of papers etc
- Ensuring all areas remain free from odour, use of air purifier as necessary.
- Ensuring plentiful supply of paper towels, toilet rolls and soap to all areas
- Be responsible for the cleaning of the residents’ kitchen, lift areas, office, corridors, staircases and inside windows. Also chairs, skirting boards, doors etc as required.
- Health and Safety at Work. Employees are required to co-operate with their employers in respect of requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. These details will be explained to you during your induction.
- Be willing to assist in other departments such as kitchen and laundry when required.
- Make any records as deemed necessary.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £9.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ilkeston, DE7 6HQ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
