As our Junior Buyer, within Indirect Procurement, this will be a supporting role to the Strategic Sourcing Manager (Indirect) who is responsible for supporting the cost-effective acquisition of Indirect and Overhead materials and services across AJW at a Group level and where appropriate, to include AJW Technique.

Working within the Strategic Sourcing Manager Indirect, you will be responsible for the timely and efficient processing of material demands, placement of purchase orders, securing order acknowledgments from suppliers, and the expediting of orders to ensure the on-time and accurate delivery of material and services to the required quality.

The Junior Buyer will work closely with the Strategic Sourcing Manager Indirect to execute and promote the Indirect Procurement Strategy. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will act as a Procurement role model, in helping ensure that the Junior Buyer is developed and to help set projects, which ultimately act as a robust learning framework.

**What you'll be doing**
- Supporting the Strategic Sourcing Manager with data, to allow the development of wider strategy.
- Processing of approved purchase demands and the successful placement of compliant and appropriately authorised purchase orders with suppliers.
- Support the Strategic Sourcing Manager and maintain/update the purchase order progress notes, expected delivery dates, and agreed prices in the company business system.
- Contribution towards the Function Cost Savings Targets both at a tactical level on an order-by-order basis and supporting the Strategic Sourcing Manager in the delivery of Strategic cost savings opportunities.
- Responsible for tracking Open Purchase order status & keeping open communication with stakeholders
- Ensure contractual compliance and adherence with supplier agreements/contracts where applicable and successfully resolve any supplier invoice discrepancies.
- Work with suppliers to determine Service and Material lead times.
- Timely escalation of any supplier performance, cost, or contractual compliance issues to the Strategic Sourcing Manager
- On occasion, represent and promote the Procurement function at key stakeholder meetings which may include Supplier meetings both on and off-site.

- Strong experience in a supplier-facing procurement role, preferably retail or Indirect
- High level of communication skills. You will need to foster positive relations with all departments and build supplier relationships and be skilled in negotiating the best value.
- Interest in, or working towards Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is desirable but not essential
- Keen attention to detail
