Over the next three years we will substantially grow our energy business to meet this opportunity and so are looking to recruit across a wide range of skills and backgrounds in all parts of the UK. Our global portfolio of energy work is grouped into six key client-facing themes: Offshore Wind, City Decarbonisation, Utility Networks, Nuclear, Hydrogen and Energy+.
Whether guiding a client from concept to realisation or focusing on promoting our client operate assets more effectively, our ports and maritime team members are involved in master planning, due diligence and feasibility studies, inspections and assessments, consents, engineering design, project management, construction supervision and more. We work with port, offshore wind and maritime clients to answer to the climate and biodiversity emergencies, bringing a whole-systems approach and technically robust advice, collaborating across our exciting industry.
**The Opportunity**
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Engineer to join our established and growing port and maritime team to focus on offshore wind ports and logistics and infrastructure project delivery.
This role is to deliver projects using best practice engineering knowledge. Your typical activities will include:
- Developing Arups business and industry profile in this space
- Managing bids technically and commercially and guiding business development
- You will deliver projects for our clients, with a focus on planning and design of ports for offshore wind fabrication, marshalling and assembly, O&M and decommissioning to facilitate fixed or floating wind farms where a deep appreciation of our client’s objectives is critical to your success.
- Being the planning, advisory and design ownership on port and maritime infrastructure projects liaising with other disciplines to deliver a holistic solution.
- Ensuring your team delivers projects to a high standard of quality and client satisfaction.
- Using existing or setting up processes for efficient design including automation.
**What you should have**:
- You will be able to demonstrate your appreciation, skill, and knowledge in the following areas:
- A desire to work in the renewable energy sector and a minimum of to five years of actual offshore wind sector experience.
- Good knowledge of the UK and Northern European ports and fabrication yards operating actively within the OSW/ decommissioning or associated sectors
- Clear comprehension of the physical characteristics and spatial reach constraints needed for ports to be successful supply chain players in the offshore wind sector
- Exposure or appreciation or fabrication manufacturing and logístical skills for fixed and floating offshore wind
**What is nice to have**:
- Ability to investigate capex, opex and repex and cost/ economic assessment
- Preparation of engineering reports and memos documenting engineering analysis
- Delivering own project work on time and to budget
- Maritime, port and offshore wind codes and standards
- Construction Health and Safety best practice.
- Strong background of maritime civil engineering including geotechnics, structures and coastal processes alongside a passion for sustainability, embodies carbon etc
- Ability to focus on values of spatial planning and flexible terminal layout development alongside concept development of associated maritime structures
