Software Engineering Intern 2026

Cambridge, United Kingdom Gearset Full time

We’re looking for enthusiastic students studying Computer Science or a related Bachelor’s or Master's degree, to join our dynamic engineering team to make a big impact.

We strongly believe that internships should be about doing real engineering work and making a real difference from day one, not watching other people do things or working on superficial tasks. Our culture of trust, transparency, and collaboration, means everyone at Gearset is given the autonomy to succeed and is trusted to do good work. We only add process when it helps us get things done, and we’re allergic to pointless meetings

At Gearset, you'll be a fully fledged member of the development team and work on real features, right the way through from their design, to developing them, to releasing them to our users. The features you build will delight users at thousands of global businesses, including IBM, Sonos, and TripAdvisor.

**What’s the opportunity for a Software Engineering Intern at Gearset?**:

- Our small engineering teams start from a few core principles but evolve over time. They all work a little bit differently, depending on their preferences and the problem they're working on. Y**ou’ll impact what we build, as well as how we build it.**:

- A great team does their best work with context and feedback - there’s no substitute for talking directly with the people impacted by our work.** Engineers work across the business and talk directly to customers and partners, to ensure we're solving the most pressing problems.**:

- Our tech stack includes C#, React, TypeScript, Postgres, AWS and Kubernetes. You’ll become familiar with our pragmatically chosen stack, but **you’ll also help us define what great looks like.**

Check out what our recent summer interns had to say about their time with us

**What you’ll achieve**:

- Work as a core member of the engineering team to design, build, and ship features to production.
- Learn from, and share your experience with, a great team from a wide range of backgrounds in a feedback driven culture where you can do your best work.
- Work closely with users, delighting them with support, researching new features and gaining feedback to drive new ideas and ways to improve.
- Contribute opinions on a range of topics, from design practices to product strategy and roadmap.

**About you**:

- Be a current student studying for a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Be based in the UK, it’s not a role we can provide visa sponsorship for
- An eagerness to solve real-world problems and ship solutions, not just write code
- A passion for learning and continual improvement, being comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback to make your work even better

You can read more about our engineering values here

**Great to haves**:

- Familiarity with C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript and React
- A link to a great example(s) of code you've written (e.g. GitHub)
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL

**Salary and benefits (the stuff you’d expect)**:

- You'll be paid £550 per week
- This is a full time opportunity, working Monday to Friday based out of our Cambridge, HQ.
- Up to £600 per month relocation support
- Flexible working hours
- Free lunch in the office
- Top end hardware provided
- Gearset has a relaxed, professional atmosphere with no dress code
