**Senior Electronics Engineer** **WORKING CONDITIONS**: Office based with occasional domestic travel. Valid UK driving license. Remote working for 2 days per week is possible. During first months full time working in the office due to training **SUMMARY OF JOB**: Our client is a world leader in the area of remote vital signs monitoring. The company's products are medical monitoring devices used in remote locations, including: Military, pre-hospital, aircraft/in-flight, yachts, and other. This job, within the technicalteam, is an engineering role to assist the company in its development of new products as well as working to maintain the design of the existing product line. The job will require the engineer complies with RDT's ISO13485 quality system. This system has a phased approach to product design progressing from concept, through prototype to pre-production and full production. RDT has a lean in-house engineering teamand makes use of subcontractors in a number of areas which are managed by the development team. The role will also involve supporting the team during functional system testing on the new product designs they produce. This will include running test protocols, investigating and resolving issues and reporting results. The initial task associated with this role will be to manage component obsolescence issues from our Subcontractor Manufacturer. This requires us to evaluate alternate components and create a robust justification (technical report) why the alternate is acceptable.This may require verification testing at extremes of battery voltage, temperature, maximum load etc. In extreme cases, full electrical safety (EMC) testing may be required. Once an acceptable alternate is identified, the parts list (Bill of Materials - BOM) shall be updated and an Engineering Change Request (ECR) submitted to senior stakeholders to manage update of the circuit boards. Further ECRs may also be required to introducethe new circuit board into the final product. **PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES**: - Engineering tasks required to progress the development of new products, in particular electronic sub-system design and development, supplier liaison, testing, producing and managing specifications and other related documentation. - Engineering tasks required to support and maintain the quality assurance within all product manufacturing. - Preparation of new and updated engineering documents relating to designs. **QUALITY OBJECTIVES**: - To comply with the procedures established as part of the company's quality management system, and to maintain appropriate records to demonstrate these procedures have been followed. **KEY TASKS/DUTIES**: - Maintaining the Design History File for new and existing product designs - Managing the production of engineering documentation that will be generated in design for use in production. - To offer technical support to the manufacturing and returns department. **REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB** **QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**: **Essential** - An Electronics degree from an accredited University or HND and 3years experience. - 3-5+ years' experience in product development. - Strong working knowledge and experience of electronics and systems. - Highly PC literate, experienced in Word/Excel etc. - Schematic and PCB CAD design experience/skills. - Demonstrable organizational skills. - A good eye for detail. - Experience developing products for medium-large scale manufacture. **Desirable** - Appreciation of mechanical design aspects. - Experience of working within an organization operating an ISO13485 quality system and meeting regulatory requirements. - Strong analytical, test and hardware debugging skills **Interpersonal Skills** - Strong interpersonal, communication, attention to detail and "self-starter" skills - Ability to work as a part of a team, or individually while using own initiative - First-class analytical and problem-solving skills with a dedication to maintaining high quality standards **LEVEL OF DISCRETION**: - Ability to make decisions within their specific area of technical expertise - Access to operational, development, design, quality, regulatory, marketing, supplier and subcontractor information in carrying out the tasks that they are required to perform - Discretion is required when dealing with customers, regulatory bodies, suppliers, subcontractors and other external organizations to safeguard confidential information - It is expressly forbidden for any member of staff, other than the Business Leader and the Marketing Director, to speak to any member of the press without the prior consent.
