**The Opportunity**

The Strategic Research Development Team works with researchers and research leaders across the University to provide expert insights into the funding environment including research funding, policy, development and complex analysis. We ensure individuals, Centres, Schools, Colleges and the University are best placed to win research funding.

The Strategic Research Executive (Analytics) is responsible for creating advanced data modelling and analysis of the internal and external research environment, to identify exciting new research opportunities and support the development of the University’s research portfolio. The role is based in the Strategic Research Development Team.

**Personal characteristics**

We want you to bring your enthusiasm, proactivity and communication skills to the role. We need your extensive quantitative and technical expertise in data analysis to inform senior decision-making, shape direction and provide critical insights into the research environment of the University. Your ability to build relationships and communicate your work with colleagues from the senior leadership to researchers to professional services will be vital.

**What skills and experience you will bring?**
- Advanced knowledge of a range of software including PowerBI and SQL
- Must have the ability to effectively grasp new topics and be able to assess their importance for the University.
- Demonstrable experience of analysing complex issues and designing recommendations for progression based on the analysis.
- Experience of ethical use of data including responsible metrics.
- Significant experience of both project design and delivery, with demonstrable highly developed, detailed organisation and planning embedded in it.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade wide ranging types of stakeholders.
- Must be able to manage a complex and diverse workload, identifying priorities and being flexible when they shift, whilst still meeting key targets.
