We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to become our new Senior Library Assistant (NHS Support)*. You will assist with the provision of high-quality, user centred services with a particular focus on helping to mobilise evidence to inform clinical, and management decision making as well as supporting the research and continuing professional development needs of our NHS users. This post will be based at our Charing Cross Campus library in Hammersmith, you may occasionally be required to work at other campuses as necessary.

You will help to deliver a fantastic, well-resourced service where you will find a home for your enthusiasm and creativity in group training, 1:1 support and marketing and promotion.

We anticipate these roles will provide opportunities for hybrid on-site/remote working.
- Please note, that our job titles do not align well with similar roles within the NHS. We believe this post is similar in scope to an NHS Band 6 Information Specialist or Clinical Librarian.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
You will carry out a range of duties but will primarily be responsible for delivering specialist library and evidence services to NHS staff. This will include promotion of the library service, providing a mediated information and evidence search service and designing and delivering information skills training programmes as well as assisting in the development and selection of a collection of books, journals and other media relevant to our NHS users. You will provide cover for senior library staff and other colleagues in their absence and assist with the training and supervision of library assistants and casual staff, as appropriate. General duties will include covering service points, dealing with enquiries and collection of statistics.

**Essential requirements**:

- You will have experience of working in a library environment, ideally gained in the higher education or health library sector
- You will have experience of supporting and training end users in group sessions and on a 1:1 basis
- You will have Bibliographic search and appraisal skills relevant to the medical and research community with an ability to construct search strategies and carry out evidence/literature searches
- You will be educated to at least ‘A’ level standard, and will preferably hold a relevant professional or vocational qualification, or have relevant equivalent experience
- You will have excellent customer care skills and experience of working in a frontline service environment
- You will have experience of building and maintaining positive relationships with a range of library users and internal and external stakeholders.
