We are seeking a skilled and motivated General Construction Operative to join our dynamic team, delivering top-quality facilities and maintenance services across the North West. Reporting to the Team/Site Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring exceptional service delivery, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

**Responsibilities**:

- To carry out all types of General Construction activity both internally and externally. Some specific tasks will include the clearance of property for all HMS Clients. This activity will require excavations and demolition, environmental cleaning and grass cutting with associated tasks, including but not exhaustive of, removal of environmental & general waste, installation of fencing, painting and general cleaning.
- The role is specifically designed to afford effective and efficient support to the construction activity of HMS and as appropriate, will include fencing, painting, ground works and excavations, structural works, carrying out remedial works such as wallpaper stripping, plaster removal and other general construction activity commensurate with the role, in order to complete projects to the satisfaction of customers, clients, manager or other nominated designate.
- Undertake associated duties assisting tradesmen in order to contribute to HMS’s ‘right first time’ objective.
- Plan and organise work in an economical and effective manner, making the best use of your available time, plant, transport and materials in accordance with specified company priority response times.
- To operate within a scheduled appointment system including liaison with customers other team members in order to effectively undertake the works.
- To undertake diagnostic and pre-measuring work in order to ascertain the nature of any activities and facilitate its completion.
- Use any communication or IT equipment to facilitate the job role. e.g. receiving instructions, completing works orders, general communications and ordering materials.
- To make necessary decisions regards repair requirements with regards contractual guidelines and inform customers, with reasons, when it is not possible to complete a repair and make mutually agreed arrangements to complete the repair, referral for clarification or escalation.
- To correctly complete all documentation and provide / input all information associated with the role and duties undertaken. Complete all documentation associated with the legislative and professional requirements.
- To drive company vehicles in a careful and professional manner in accordance with all company procedures.
- Maintain and operate an agreed range of stock and equipment within the vehicle provided.
- Use all necessary tools plant and equipment associated with the post and duties undertaken.
- Manage materials as effectively as possible with regards to minimising waste, choice of specification and logistics.
- Undertake individual or corporate training and development in association with your role and duties.
- Ensure the observance of all statutory and local safety precautions and report immediately any accidents or breaches of safety procedures.
- Liaise as required with Schedulers, Planners, CLO’s, other HMS divisions or contractors to ensure the work is properly coordinated and the necessary works are fully completed.
- Ensure the compliance of all minimum standards of work, customer care requirements and key performance measures in undertaking the role.
- Carry out other appropriate duties as required which your line manager may from time to time determine.

**Skills & Experience**:

- NVQ Level 2 in Construction or Maintenance discipline or equivalent
- CSCS card at appropriate level
- Full UK or EU driving license
- Experience of maintenance, environmental clearance, general labouring.
- Willing to be proactive in the continuous improvement of a quality service
- Experience of activity associated to core tasks, pointing and groundworks
- Able to demonstrate initiative when dealing with situations and completing tasks.
