Transport Planner

The leading timber and panel product distributor is currently looking for a Transport Planner to join its established team at its Thurrock Depot, covering the South East of England. You will be joining a family business with history going back to 1757.They are a forward-thinking, established business that offers further career development.
As a Transport Planner your responsibilities will include:

- The running of 10 lorries to be compliant
- Route planning, control route allocation and changes whilst on shift accepting the need to respond to driver failures.
- Maxamising freight weight
- Debriefing drivers using their trip sheet; using a database, ensuring drivers are challenged over a late delivery and any other issues arising during their shift.
- Dealing with all goods inward and customer collections
- Updating route and compliance sheets with driver activity during shift ensuring this is ‘live’ at all times capturing all data.
- Administration duties such as updating the fleet whiteboard, completing weekly KPI packs and late and short reports.
- Managing driver holidays and absence.

We are looking for a Transport Planner who has the following:

- Operational experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literate with the ability to use Word, Excel, E-mail and Microlise (or similar routing software) with confidence and a familiarity with using spreadsheets, databases and presentations.
- A good communicator with an excellent customer service focus, administrative and organisational skills.
- Own transport is essential.
- Transport legislation would be beneficial, but not essential as training is provided.

This role is working shifts of 7am - 4pm and 9am - 6pm alternating each week.
In return, as a Planner you will receive a salary of £23,000 - £27,000 pa.You will also receive 21 days holiday per annum plus statutory bank holidays, rising to 26 days and auto-enrolment company match contribution pension scheme starting at 4%. The Companyoperates three discretionary bonus schemes, the Christmas bonus, which is based on length of service, the Group bonus which pays out a share of Group profit and a Core bonus scheme. You will receive all internal training required to comply with company procedures,and any external training you feel necessary to assist you with your role.
