Bar Staff are not only the friendly faces greeting your customers from behind the bar, but they’re also responsible for ensuring the bar runs smoothly by keeping the bar area clean and replenishing stock. Taking orders, advising customers about current promotions and mixing drinks are just some of the customer-facing responsibilities for Bar Staff. However, to ensure bar service can operate efficiently, they also monitor stock levels, restocking when needed, promptly react to spills or hazards and reach out to the Bar Manager for support when needed.

**Bar Staff skills and qualifications**

Successful Bar Staff typically have excellent customer service skills, the ability to multitask and can remain calm when working in a busy environment. Teamwork is vital in Bar Staff roles and being able to communicate effectively with others is key to success.

**Skills**:

- Customer service skills, including being knowledgeable about products to assist customers best
- Enjoy working with others and be able to cooperate as part of a team
- Active listening skills and a good memory for remembering different orders from different customers
- Calm demeanour to deal with demanding customers
- Attention to detail
- Ability to carry out basic order processing and payment tasks on a till or a handheld device
- The ability to work well in a noisy, high-pressure environment
- Ability to multitask and remain organised during a busy period

**Experience requirements**

A background in the hospitality industry is beneficial, and previous experience in Bar Staff positions is essential
