An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 8a Clinical Psychologist with an interest and post qualification experience of working with medical/chronic health problems.
The post will involve working with adults with a range of medical difficulties/health problems within our relatively new Adult Medical Outpatient Service (AMOS), you will be responsible for developing and providing a range of group programmes for the service, providing specialist psychological assessment and time-limited 1:1 interventions for people living with a range of medical conditions plus offering supervision, consultation and training to other clinical staff.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist with an interest in Clinical Health Psychology who can work show autonomy and resilience. Clinical supervision will be provided by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who leads the AMOS service.
It is essential that the post-holder will have a doctorate level clinical psychology professional qualification and be HCPC registered.
The successful applicant will join an increasing Clinical Psychology Adult Medical Outpatient Service which is part of the Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology within the trust.
Currently the clinical psychologists and psychology assistants working in the department provide input into a number of medical inpatient and outpatient services within the Trust including: Adult Medical Outpatient, Neurorehabilitation, Stroke and Normal-Pressure Hydrocephalus, generic child service, Burns (child and adult), Cystic Fibrosis (child and adult), Child Oncology, Child Neurology Services including children with acquired and traumatic brain injury, Cleft Lip and Palate (child and adult), Haematological Cancers, Major Trauma, Neonatal Intensive Care, Non Epileptic Attack Disorder, Renal (adult and child), Sickle Cell (child and adult), Amputee (Lifespan), MESH/Reproductive Health, Digestive Diseases (Adult), Gastroenterology (Child).

A strong interest in clinical health psychology
Enthusiasm for and past experience of developing and delivering group interventions
Evidence of significant knowledge and substantial post doctorate experience of working in clinical health psychology
A good working knowledge and experience of evidence-based 1:1 and group based treatments
Sound clinical risk assessment and management
Experience of working with safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
Experience of supervising therapists and other clinical staff

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in with people with medical/chronic health conditions
- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
- Experience of developing and delivery group interventions
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with other disciplines including medicine and nursing
