**Senior Planning Officer**
**Purpose of the Job**
Subject to overall control of Head of Planning to:
- Carry out the functions of the Client on Development Control matters demonstrating excellent technical and customer care skills_._
**Duties and Responsibilities**
This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks, which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken.
- To deputise for the Development Control Team Leader in his/her absence as required by the Development Manager.
- To prepare reports and make recommendations to Client Committees and on matters to be decided under delegated powers - including presenting reports as appropriate.
- To prepare and present evidence at appeals/public inquiries as required.
- To keep abreast of, and advise others in the Section on, changing legislation, circulars and good planning practice relating to development control and to ensure continued personal and professional development to meeting changing demands on the service.
- To assist and support the Technical Assistants as necessary in order to enable the team to meet service and business plan targets. To give training and support to team members as required by the Development Control Team Leader/Development Manager.
- To respond to enquiries and complaints as required under the guidance of the Development Control Team Leader.
- To represent the Service at meetings with other Client Services and outside bodies/organisations always demonstrating high standards of customer care.
- To carry out such other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- To support and assist with Client/corporate work on various initiatives including work on the Local Plan as necessary.
- Must demonstrate a keen commitment to customer care, displaying flexibility in approach to work to achieve service and corporate priorities.
**Rate of Pay**
PAYE: £35
Umbrella: £43.78
**Location**:Huyton Library, Knowsley, L36 9GD
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: £35.00-£43.78 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
**Education**:
- Bachelor's (preferred)
**Experience**:
- Town Planning: 1 year (preferred)
