**Lead Data Engineer**

**Lead Data Engineer role and responsibilities.**

As an Azure Lead Data Engineer joining the Data Insights and Analytics team. You will be responsible for:

- Building new data pipelines.
- Optimizing data flows using the Azure cloud stack.
- Supporting Business Analysts and Data Architects with the discovery and best practices.
- Supporting the data needs for the wider business across multiple teams, systems and products.

**Lead Data Engineer skills and experience required**:

- Being in a lead/ Senior engineer role where you have led teams to deliver projects.
- Experience working as a data pipeline engineer or data specialist.
- Strong Azure experience migrating data products from on-prem to Azure.
- Data Ingestion and Storage including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Kafka and Spark Streaming, Azure EventHub/IoT Hub, and Azure Stream Analytics.
- Building and optimizing ‘big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets using Py-spark.
- Experience with Object-oriented/ object function scripting languages: Python.
