To be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the Eye Department, ensuring the highest possible quality of care is delivered to the patients, relatives and carers who attend.
To take forward the ARMD service in Eye department with the support of related agencies. To foster smooth working relationships with the multidisciplinary team and lead a team to ensure that the service provided adequately caters for all the patients.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting Clinical Excellence
To act all times, with regard to the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct.
To be aware of and adhere to the Trust’s and department’s policies and guidelines.
To provide appropriate treatment and to refer on to appropriate areas.
To be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care maintaining the highest standard possible at all times.
To liaise with members of the health care team and patient’s families to discuss care appropriate to individual patients.
To be responsible for accurate documentation and be aware of the necessity, at all times, for effective written and verbal communication.
To utilise the best practice available, utilising research and/or evidence based practise at all times.
To have a patient focused approach to care, ensuring that each individual patient has the best care possible.
Be able to identify eye emergencies and take appropriate action.
Ensure all prescribed medications are stored and dispensed in accordance with PGD’s, local protocols and the NMC Scope of professional Practice.

People/Management Excellence

Manage the department ensuring that problems with patient flow are identified early and acted on promptly.

To ensure government targets are adhered to work alongside the trackers to meet four-hour target.
