Acute Liaison Autism Specialist

We are seeking a Band 7 Acute Liaison Specialist to develop a new service for autistic people accessing our hospital-based services in Harrogate. As an Acute Liaison Specialist, you will be a key member of our multi-professional health team, working in close partnership with partners in the wider health and social care system to support autistic people, their families and carers.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will ensure that systems are in place to identify autistic people and ensure that these patients receive the highest standards of care when accessing acute health services.
You will design and deliver training to members of the wider multi-disciplinary team and provide specialist support and advice to staff.
- The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that patients with autism who need to access acute health receive the highest standard of care
- Conducting a Scoping exercise to cover support models (including transition) based on best practice and national benchmarking
- Provide specialist support and advice to the multidisciplinary team in the management of patients with autism.
- Ensuring that systems/processes are in place to identify patients with autism and that their pathways of care are reasonably adjusted to meet their needs.
- Ensuring the availability of a comprehensive range of patient information, designed for & with patients with autism.
- Ensuring that families & carers of patients with autism are properly supported, informed and engaged.
- Developing & delivering an effective training strategy in relation to autism in preparation for the mandatory Oliver McGowan training.
- Developing a programme of audit to assess & identify potential improvements in the care of patients with autism
