Our new operating model will be focused on providing a single system view, single messaging and shared leadership to support and enable integrated care. We are creating integrated regional teams and new regional geographies, and aligning our corporate functions.

The newly-established Transformation Directorate in NHS England & NHS Improvement draws together Innovation, Research and Life Science; Improvement and Tech Data Policy teams from DHSC into a single team seeking to deliver transformative change for both patients, staff and clinicians in the NHS.

**This in undertaken in three ways**:
1)Redesigning services;
2)Data and analytics;
3)A learning and innovation NHS

The Directorate works together with clinicians and the frontline to redesign services, find creative solutions to address elective surgery, clearing the backlog and getting us back to previous levels of activity and beyond.

The NHS has an ability unique in the world to learn and innovate at scale. We have excellent innovators and research institutions in the UK.Many of theinnovations are already being made somewhere on the NHS frontline, and part of our role is to encourage adoption and spread of these proven innovations, giving the frontline a bigger voice. We will be convening stakeholders to build improvement ideas, pilot new ways of operating, and scaling the adoption of successful pilots.

The postholder will have a leadership role in delivering the commitment that the NHS becomes a digitally enabled organisation and always demonstrates continuous quality improvement. The post-holder will report to the Chief Nursing Information Officer and work with their Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer and their Senior Leadership Team and will be a full member of both Leadership teams.

Key aspects of the Head of Digitisation Medicines role will be to:
- Ensure the strategy is formulated, understood by all stakeholders and is delivered utilising all available resources efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure the development and management of relevant strategic plans, within the Sector.
- Ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place to enable the implementation of the strategy plans in the new organisations.
- Proactively manage the key risks and issues associated with ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond.
- Monitoring and establishing accountability on the overall progress of the strategy to ensure completion within agreed timescales.
- Manage the whole budgetary implications of activity.
- Avoid the destabilisation of business as usual.
- Manage and actively promote the relationships with key stakeholders.
- Supporting the SROs and programme directors to understand how they can fulfil the above and identifying gaps or omissions in the totality of the digital medicines offering.
- Provide professional leadership for the pharmacy informatics workforce and related workforce development.
- Providing expert digital pharmacist advice on all elements of medicines policy and practice, acting as digital adviser to the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer
- Accountable for developing and delivering strategy, promoting innovation and supporting operational excellence within the digital medicines and professional pharmacy informatics arena.
- Be the designated Chief Pharmaceutical Officer lead for any national digital improvement programmes and hold the responsibility for any specific medicines components of this work.
- Working with highly complex data, facts and situations requiring analysis, interpretations and comparisons on a range of options and making decisions on the most appropriate approach.
- The coordination of all aspects of digital medicines - incorporating pharmacy supply chain through to ePMA (ePrescribing and Medicines Administration) in hospitals, the electronic prescription service (EPS) and including the secondary use of medicines data and the falsified medicines directive.
- Act as SRO for digital medicines programmes of work, managing, coordinating and taking responsibility for the delivery of the work and associated budgets, programme direction, business planning and benefits realisation.

Please note that the reason for the fixed term of your contract is due to it being a short-term vacancy. The role is fixed term with the potential to be made permanent following the completion of the current Transformation Programme.
