Clinical Coding Training Lead

1. Provide a comprehensive clinical coding training service for the Trust 2. In conjunction with the Clinical Coding training and Audit Manager, maintain a Trust annual Coding Training Program in keeping with the Data Security Standard 3 Staff Training - Clinical Coding Training requirements. Agree outcomes to be actioned.
Produce and implement robust action plans to resolve outcomes. 3. To have successfully completed an NHS England Clinical Coding Trainer Program (CCTP) in order to have achieved NHS England Approved Clinical Coding Trainer status. 4.
Attend all NHS Digital Approved Clinical Coding Trainer refresher training courses/forums as required and complete all NHS England requirements in order to maintain approved clinical coding trainer status. 5. Carry out quality checks on coded data for the Trusts inpatient, day case and regular day activity. 6.
To work in conjunction with staff from the Information team to communicate the importance of clinical coding, including liaising with Service Lines in support of data quality, performance targets and business planning. Undertake presentation where appropriate to clinical, managerial and administrative staff. 7. Develop individual training plans for clinical coders as identified through coding audit to provided one to one coaching and support.
8. To continue to improve the quality of coded data through the delivery of training and awareness sessions to health care professionals. 9. Plan, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive clinical coding training schedule for trainee coders and continued training and development of existing staff alongside the Clinical Coding Training and Audit Manager (utilising NHS England approved courses and training materials) ensuring they operate within National Standards.
10. Promote the schedule of courses to external organisations to generate income for the Trust and where necessary work outside of the Trust to deliver training courses. 11. Provide advice to clinical staff, business managers nursing and other staff groups on coding issues as required.
12. Undertake clinical coding of patient activity as necessary. 13. To take part in regular performance appraisal 14.
