We are seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker to work within Wirral Children and Young Peoples Intensive Support Function (CYP-ISF). The CYP-ISF is an enhanced function that supports the work of our core CAMHS teams.

Are you interested in working with CYP with mental health difficulties and/or Intellectual Disabilities and Autism? Do you have the passion and drive to begin your career in an Intensive Support Function that will support these young people to improve their daily functioning. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity, compassion, and optimism for CYP to live good quality lives in their own communities.

You will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary team which includes a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Nurse Specialist, Assistant Psychologist and Assistant Practitioner.

The post holder will be working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism who present with behaviours that challenge and mental health issues. You will be working as part of the Intensive Support Team, and will undertake focused work with the aim of preventing a person going into crisis and being admitted to hospital.

The post holder will offer advice and support to families of children with learning disabilities and/or autism and work alongside all partner agencies

To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism. Working intensively with children and young people, their families and the network around the family to help reduce the risk of inappropriate hospital admission and out of area placements.

To work as part of a team with a Clinical Psychologist, Nurse Specialist, and Assistant Psychologists.

You will work on pulling together plans and interventions e.g. positive behaviour support plans.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
