**Locum Commercial Property Lawyer - Remote Working - up to £55 per hour - East Midlands**

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are recruiting for a Commercial Property Lawyer to join a Local Authority based in the East Midlands.

The assignment is offered for an **initial period of 3 - 6 months** with the possibility of extension thereafter dependent upon performance. This role will be offered on an**all remote basis.**

This role is suitable for a qualified **Solicitor or Barrister** with **recent experience**in **Commercial Property Law** that has been gained within Local Government and enjoys having a varied caseload.

Duties may include:

- Advising landlord clients in relation to a range of issues related to Commercial Property lettings, including but not limited to forfeiture, peaceable possession and potentially recovery of rent arrears
- Dealing with Landlord and tenancy issues and disputes
- Working to recover vacant possession of premises which may involve debt recovery proceedings
- Carrying out all necessary advisory work to support the Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings
- Managing a varied Property portfolio including auction properties and a number of industrial estates located across the region, retail units, offices, education and leisure venues
- Working on Commercial leases, licences, easements, agreements for lease, licenses to underlet and conditional contracts
- Dealing with freehold and leasehold disposals
- Drafting and negotiating freehold transfers, deeds of surrender and investigation licenses
- Working closely with the Council’s Property Services Team in order to proactively co-ordinate and manage a large number of instructions
- Supporting client departments on land and property, highways, commercial contract and procurement matters
- Drafting Commercial Property related statutory notices and representing Commercial Property landlord clients in County Court forfeiture proceedings and completing all paperwork required

The position offers an hourly rate of up to £55 per hour dependent upon levels of experience.
