An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Trust as ward leader on Chesterfield Birth Centre.

The Birth Centre is a co-located unit, offering both Midwife Led Care and Consultant Led Care.

There are 12 rooms offering 4 birthing pools, the environment is light and airy offering women a calm, relaxing place to come and have their baby.

We will soon introduce the outpatient induction of labour process and the post holder will be instrumental in monitoring its successful implementation.

As we invest in new leadership roles within our maternity structures to strengthen support to our clinical teams and enable excellent clinical outcomes and outstanding patient and staff experience.

You will need to demonstrate highly developed leadership behaviours and be a role model for our values, inclusion, staff engagement and supporting our teams.

In addition you will be able to demonstrate midwifery expertise and a commitment to robust teamwork and innovative practice, thus supporting the Divisional leadership team in the delivery of high quality compassionate care.

The post-holder is responsible for providing motivational leadership on the Birth Centre, and the continuing effective and efficient organisation and management of this area.

The post holder will;
- ensure that fundamental care standards are achieved, and will provide a visible presence on the unit, and be accessible to women/ families and staff.
- Ensure that quality measures are implemented and resultant improvement plans are delivered
- Undertake audit of clinical practice and develop innovative processes for providing feedback to staff.
- Will be rostered to work a minimum of one clinical shift per week on Chesterfield Birth Centre
- Work collaboratively with other staff within the division to support the Divisional Leadership Team in the delivery of key performance indicators, service developments and transformation agenda, applicable to area of responsibility.

The post holder will participate in the senior midwives’ on call rota as required.
