**Maintenance Operative**

Hours: Part time, 30 hours per week

12 month contract with the possibility to be made permanent

**Salary**: Negotiable

The Wilberforce Trust are seeking a maintenance person to provide day to day maintenance and DIY

Support within our community-based services in York and Tadcaster.

Reporting to: Housing and Facilities Manager

**Main Responsibility**

To undertake minor repairs and maintenance as required. Daily use of company van with fuel card.

**Skills Required**:
Joinery, decorating, minor plumbing, to enable furniture moves, grounds maintenance, clearing of low guttering and general DIY skills.

Working at Heights qualification would be beneficial.

Good IT Skills is essential

**Health and Safety**
- To be responsible for Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) at HQ and the community-based services and reporting all defects to line manager
- To carry out statutory weekly checks to the fire alarm system in all our community-based services, completing appropriate records and notifying line manager of any defects
- Adhere to risk assessments and Health & Safety legislation at all times
- Maintain the car park areas at our community-based services to ensure that it is safe and clear of hazards e.g. leaves frost/snow.

To attend all training deemed necessary by the Organisation

**Time Management**

To prioritise and manage own work load in the most efficient manner to ensure that all reported maintenance requirements are completed in accordance with risk

**Communication**

To maintain communication with Line Manager to ensure all defects or hazards are reported that may affect service delivery

**Other**
