**Job description**

**Job Purpose**
- To provide support to a 21-year-old lady with disabilities, building her confidence and independence and allowing respite opportunities for her parents

**Location**: Near Diss

**Details**:

- I am a happy, bright 21-year-old who happens to have Downs Syndrome, ASD and associated sensory processing difficulties. I love music, clothes and makeup. My hobbies include dancing, drawing, TikTok and eating out. I also enjoy going to pop concerts, shopping or meeting with friends.
- It is important to me as I approach adulthood that I have a reliable companion(s) so that I have others besides my parents that I can trust. Ideally, you would be able to take me out at least once, if not twice a week. You will be supporting me with my volunteer work at a local charity shop as well as on days out for example going shopping to Norwich, eating out and going bowling or trampolining. As well as meeting up with friends or going to a pop concert. You will also be needed to share transporting me to other groups I attend in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. Eventually, when we built a bond, you will occasionally be required to offer overnight respite at my home me whilst my parents have a night out
- It is equally important to me to have lots of fun

**Person specification**:
**Essential**:

- Outgoing, assertive and responsible
- A friendly, kind and patient personality with a fun outlook on life
- Enjoyment of pop music and tech savvy
- Car owner/driver with relevant business insurance
- Flexible

**Desirable**:

- Experience of people with ASD and/or learning disabilities, maybe a student studying in this field

**Summary terms and conditions**:

- The rate of pay for this position is £12+ per hour, for 8 hours + a week. Both aspects are currently under review and are expected to be increased
- You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
- Hours and times of work: flexible, will include weekend working, to be discussed further at interview. Hours to gradually increase once rapport built. Potentially up to 450 hours available per year. Job share considered
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
