**About ACT Schools**:
ACT Schools is a registered independent school to admit students from the ages of 11-16 years with special educational needs primarily focused to social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. We are passionate about ensuring all young people are equipped with the skills they need to become successful adults.
**What we are looking for**:
We are looking for a positive, caring individual who is keen to support learners who encounter challenging behaviours within ACT Schools. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and patient and will have a full understanding of behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD).
As an employee at our registered independent school for young people aged 11-16, you will be expected to develop and deliver the school’s offer of additional learning provision. Working collaboratively with the ALNCo, School’s Inclusion Officer, teaching staff and HLTA team, you will lead on the development and implementation of effective targeted numeracy interventions and develop effective strategies for groups and individual learners.
The role is split across our two school sites (Cardiff & Hadfield Road) reporting to the ALNCo.

**What we need from you**:
- Post graduate or level 5 qualification in teaching/assessment of specific learning difficulties e.g. Accredited Level 5 - Certificate in Dyscalculia and Maths Learning Difficulties; Support and Intervention.
- Experience of working with challenging, disengaged learners
- Minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent with minimum of Grade C in English and Maths.
- Teaching assistant/ teaching qualification or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively to learners, colleagues, managers, parents, stakeholders etc. by telephone, in person and in writing
- Supportive and empathetic
- Team player with ability to work on own initiative
- Creative and passionate for training/learning

**Responsibilities**:
- Provide individual and group interventions for learners.
- Develop and implement targeted numeracy programmes for young people with complex needs.
- Plan, prepare, and adjust lesson plans and support.
- Communicate with ALNCo, School Inclusion Officer, teaching staff, HLTA, and parents to ensure effective strategies.
- Assess and modify learner responses to tasks.
- Attend PCP reviews and support IDP development.
- Evaluate learner progress with teachers and HLTA.
- Track and monitor progress using Edukey.
- Share strategies with teaching staff to support learners.
- Support HLTA professional development.
- Establish a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Manage behaviour constructively and challenge poor behaviour.
- Provide detailed incident reports.
- Report safeguarding concerns.
- Mentor learners needing additional support.
- Maintain accurate records of performance and progress.
- Perform administrative duties for programme smooth running.
- Ensure equality and fair treatment.
- Promote ACT’s environmental practices.
- Perform other duties as requested.
