**About Rosyth**:
The Project Controls Apprenticeship is based at our Rosyth site.

At the heart of our Marine sector is our 320 acre Rosyth facility, which is home to one of the largest waterside manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. The facilities have been an iconic presence on the River Forth for more than 100 years and carry a name synonymous with engineering excellence. Our world-class assets and infrastructure support a diverse range of naval and commercial marine programmes as well as advanced manufacturing.

At Rosyth, you can expect to work on the build, maintenance and refit of UK Royal Navy and international naval vessels, including the Type 31 Frigate Programme and UK Submarine Dismantling Programme.

**Project Controls Apprenticeships**:
As a Project Control Apprentice, you will gain exposure to various aspects of the Project Management function including but not limited to; Project Management, Project Controls, Planning/Scheduling, Risk management, Change and Contract Management. You will gain experience working and communicating with project stakeholders at a variety of levels in the organisation and gain real life experience in helping to deliver major Design & Build projects for our customers.

70:20:10 Development - A defined Project Management Career Framework will support you in your development and provide a pathway for a long-term career in the Project Management & Controls function in Babcock.
- 70% of your learning will be provided through on the Job experience through Project Controls placements
- 20% of your learning will be provided through mentorship and coaching from other experienced persons in the business
- 10% of your learning will be provided through formal training, in addition to your qualifications through the College.

**Project Controls Placements & Competencies**:
Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will gain experience in different areas of Marine Engineering & Systems part of the business. Your placements will give you the required experience to be able to successfully cover all the required competencies to complete the Project Controls Apprenticeship.

**Competencies**:
Your on-the-job experience will provide a mechanism with support to develop yourself on a number of key competencies required to become a rounded Project Controller, and also help you decide a long-term preferred career path within the Project Controls function. Some (but not all) competencies include:

- Stakeholder & Communications Management
- Scheduling
- Risk Management
- Change Control
- Budget & Cost Control
- Project Reporting
- Detail Planning
- Technical knowledge of our products

**Placements**:
Placements in different areas of the business will give you the opportunity to learn all the required Project Controls competencies but will also get you familiar with the Programmes & Projects we do and the learn from industry experts.

**Qualifications you’ll get**:
You will gain the following qualifications in your respective apprenticeship discipline. These four components make up your Modern Apprenticeship.- SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations.
- SVQ Level 3 in your chosen engineering discipline.
- National Certificate in your chosen discipline.
- Core skills at intermediate 2/SCQF Level 5.

**What you’ll need**:
Five SQA National Qualifications needed:

- Maths at National Level 5
- English at National Level 5
- Two others at National Level 4 or 5

The apprentice must demonstrate the core requirements below and also demonstrate the specialist requirements in their chosen role.
