**About the Department**

Bonhams Impressionist & Modern Art auctions offer paintings, sculptures, works on paper and ceramics by artists including Auguste Rodin, Pablo Picasso, Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, Marc Chagall and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, as well as works by Surrealist artists like René Magritte and Salvador Dalí. As part of the wider 20/21 Century Art team we hold 17 auctions a year in London, New York, Paris and online.

**About the Role**

With a busy 2025 ahead of us, we are looking for a Department Assistant to support the London team in the lead-up to our October sale season.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day research support to the Impressionist & Modern Art department, checking literature in the office and at external libraries throughout London.
- Assist with the preparation of sale proposals, catalogue notes and updating internal databases.
- Support the department Senior Cataloguer in unframing artworks, taking works to the photography studios, cataloguing, research and expert liaison.
- Support in the organisation of exhibitions and auction previews.Support the department with the management of digital marketing channels such as Instagram.

**Key Skills & Experience**
- A particular interest in the Impressionist & Modern Art area would be desirable.
- Knowledge of a European language, particularly French, would be very helpful.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up to see tasks through to completion.
- Strong time management and organisation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage own workflow and prioritise in a fast-moving environment.
- Prior experience working in an auction house, gallery, or museum would be preferred.Tech savvy and strong content creating ability - Instagram: reels, stories, etc.
