**JOB OVERVIEW**

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Housing Technical Assistant who has a helpful and professional telephone manner with excellent written, verbal, administrative, organisational and time-management skills.

Working as the Housing Technical Assistant you will join a team that delivers a range of services connected with disabled facilities grants, empty properties, private rented enforcement, homelessness and the management of the housing register. The organisationworks closely with Derbyshire County Council Adult Care and Children’s Services, as well as Derbyshire County Council Disability Design Team, the Home Improvement Agency, Landlords, the NHS and various charitable and voluntary organisations.

As the Housing Technical Assistant you will provide technical and administrative support to the housing team with a particular focus on supporting the delivery of disabled facilities grants.

**DUTIES**

Your duties as the Housing Technical Assistant include:

- Provide advice, assistance, and information to members of the public enquiring about housing grants including disabled facility grants and other forms of housing assistance
- Work closely with Derbyshire County Council and other partners to encourage self-help and self-service wherever possible in the delivery of the housing service
- Proactively liaise with partners, applicants, contractors and agents throughout the grant process to support the progress of schemes
- Carry out financial assessments of grant applicants
- Assist in providing appropriate housing advice and signposting to partners
- Provide administrative support to the wider team
- Provision of housing grants and take minutes

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**
- Good administrative skills
- English and Maths GCSE or equivalent (A-C or 9-4)
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Ability to record information accurately with an attention to detail
- Good customer care skills, including dealing with vulnerable people
- Good computer literacy including the use of spreadsheets
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
- Previous experience of using Grants Software Packages would be highly desirable

**A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.**
