**1st Line Support Engineer**

Applause IT are looking for multiple aspiring/existing 1st line support professionals to join the helpdesk of a leading provider of educational and care services to children and young adults across the UK. Supporting all internal users, your work will providethe necessary technical support to keep front line workers fully operational as well as maintaining the help desk function for all other key areas of the business.

**The responsibilities of the 1st Line Engineer are as follows**:

- To provide technical support for issues related to PC/laptop/smart phone hardware, software and associated peripherals via a helpdesk system
- To log support calls and document their outcome to facilitate the resolution of common queries.
- To deploy equipment including new installations and the redeployment of existing equipment.
- To install and configure all hardware and software to the agreed company standards.
- To maintain the existing hardware by performing upgrades, new installations and carrying out routine procedures.
- To assist in the compilation and maintenance of an accurate inventory of hardware and software.
- To undertake other such work as may be assigned by your line manager which is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job to and to participate in appropriate training activities.

**The successful 1st Line Engineer will have the following experience/qualities**:

- An enthusiasm for IT and a desire to progress within an IT environment
- Experience working in a similar role
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work within timescales

**Some of the desirable experience is listed below**:

- Understanding of VMware
- Experience of Microsoft Windows and Office
- Entry level knowledge of domain services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP)
- Entry level networking understanding
- Driving licence
