**Job Title: Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator (Whole School)**

**Responsible to**: Deputy Head - Pastoral & Safeguarding

**Hours of work**: The designated hours will be 24 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hours may vary according to events or functions taking place and therefore a degree of flexibility is required for the role. The role is term time only, 34 weeks.

**The Role**:

- To implement and lead a whole school approach to mental/physical health & wellbeing.
- To develop mental/physical health & wellbeing services and ensure best practice in line with government guidance.
- To support pupils' physical and mental health and wellbeing in order for them to manage their own mental health and wellbeing and fully participate in school life.
- Facilitate the above on a 1:1 and group basis when needed using evidence based resources.
- To provide safe spaces and environments to facilitate pupils in flourishing as happy individuals in a caring community.
- To liaise with and provide support to the Deputy Head (Pastoral and Safeguarding) and the Headmaster in the provision of care and welfare of the pupils within the school.
- To liaise with other colleagues, pastoral team, Health & Wellbeing Centre and SEND and SALT therapists, in order to achieve the above objectives
- Facilitate and encourage a multidisciplinary approach with the above departments.
- To provide first aid care when necessary.
- Developing and leading effective early intervention and prevention strategies.
- Mental health support to pupils on a daily basis and physical health support as per the brief above
- Liaison with staff with regard to any mental health & wellbeing problems concerning pupils.
- Coordinating with medical professionals as appropriate.
- Coordinating TiC counselling services / Mentor Link / Mental Health
- Support teams / CAMHS and other external agencies.
- Implementing and coordinating a Mental Health Action Group to
- implement and maintain a whole school approach.
- Running the HUB which is our lunch club for the more vulnerable students.

**Main Duties and responsibilities**:

- Counselling / mental & physical health support.
- Ensuring the best possible mental health & wellbeing care is available to both pupils and staff on an immediate and an emergency care basis.
- Where necessary, arranging to get the pupil / person home safely or to alternative care, e.g. the individual’s GP or to hospital.
- Administering medication according to School policy (Boarding and Day).
- Performing necessary health and wellbeing checks to assist with diagnosis.
- Liaison with parents and staff in accordance with the School policies on mental/physical health and wellbeing issues.
- Referral of pupils to other external services, as required.
- Timely maintenance of pupil files, medical records using Schoolbase.
- Arranging and managing communication with parents with regard to consent.
- Development of mental health and wellbeing care/support plans where appropriate; giving support to relevant teaching staff in their dealings with pupils in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities.
- Providing general advice and training for staff for initial care of pupils with particular mental/physical health & wellbeing needs and developing training and teaching tools to aid in the delivery of our mental health & wellbeing strategies ensuring a consistent school wide approach.
- Providing clinical supervision and support to academic staff in pastoral care and counselling.
- As appropriate, raising awareness of mental/physical health and wellbeing issues to pupils and staff throughout the School.
- Ensuring medical mental health & wellbeing questionnaires and all relevant parental consent forms to administer or carry medicine etc. on entry to school and at agreed stages of school career are obtained and retained.
- Evaluating the outcome of interventions on pupils’ wellbeing and attainment to understand what is working and make any necessary changes to ensure effective support is provided.
- Comply with GDPR, Health & Safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and other school policies as required.
- Attending training (including all INSET’s) and keeping up to date with developments in the mental/physical health & wellbeing field.
- First aid for pupils, staff and visitors.
