An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Ophthalmology service at Guy’s & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting and challenging role within the team in which the post holder would have an opportunity to make a direct positive impact on patient experience within the Trust.

The Ophthalmology service offers diagnosis and treatment to patients with diseases of the eyes.

The successful applicant will be responsible for admin duties within the Ophthalmology Access Centre, coordinating the pathways of patients, supporting the team booking outpatient appointments in line with the NHS 18 Week Patient Pathway, assisting with the administrative process as well as managing the Ophthalmology waiting list and the challenges that come with it.

The post holder must be IT literate and have the ability to navigate trust IT systems.

The role requires the ability to liaise with all disciplines of staff i.e. Directorate Managers, Consultants, Registrars, Nurses and administrative colleagues.

The post holder will be required to rotate within the team, providing clinic reception cover, appointment and admissions booking, general administrative support and telephone cover. This will ensure that, at every contact with the Trust, patients are able to speak to staff who understand their scheduling needs and that clinical teams are always supported by knowledgeable administrative staff.

The post holder will act as a key liaison between doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, managers and patients. They must be a clear and tactful communicator with excellent customer care skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of people. They will have a mature attitude with good problem-solving abilities and a flexible, can-do attitude.
