We are looking for a Technical Design Assistant to organise the production of approved prototypes for Menswear and Womenswear through liaison with Designers, Technical and Production Managers and specific factories. To provide and chase samples from manufacturers to the guidelines set by Paul Smith Ltd. and to assist with all technical aspects of the garments from the development and sampling stage through to production.

**Responsibilities**:

- To translate design sketches into workable technical construction notes and diagrams.
- Coordinate with the Design teams to produce the required patterns for sampling and production.
- Work closely with factories to create prototypes which meet designer, pattern and factory requirements.
- Complete and provide trim information on all styles for sampling and production.
- To attend prototype and sample fitting sessions and record accurate notes relating to garment construction and fit.
- To alter and update technical construction details as required and maintain an accurate record.
- To check and comment on sample garments when they return from factories.
- Organise any re-sampling of styles, improve technical problems when found and inform production of any improvements.
- Assist with sample preparation as needed and be aware of specific factory equipment, machines and restrictions.

**Essential Experience and Skills Required**:

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Credible technical experience in Men’s or Womenswear.
- Experience of translating design sketches into workable technical construction notes and diagrams.
- Technical understanding of product construction.
- Proven experience of constructing prototypes made to designer, pattern and factory requirements.

- Flexible over working hours and able to travel in the UK and internationally if required.
