**JOB DESCRIPTION Role: Facilities Supervisor**

**Function: Health & Safety**

**Job Focus**:

- Take responsibility for the management of services and processes that support the core business of the organisation.
- Ensure the most suitable working environment is attained for its employees and their activities.
- Be involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations, particularly in relation to buildings and premises include but are not limited to:

- building and grounds maintenance and associated procurement and contract management
- cleaning
- security
- utilities and communications infrastructure
- waste and recycling

**Main Tasks & Responsibilities**
- Prepare documents to put out tenders for contractors
- Manage, supervise and coordinate the work of contractors
- Calculate and compare costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money
- Manage and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities
- Direct, coordinate and plan essential services such as reception, security, maintenance, mail, archiving, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling
- Work with the HSE team to ensure buildings meet health and safety requirements and that facilities comply with legislation
- Check that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies
- Coordinate and lead one or more teams and contractors to cover various areas of responsibility
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues in respect to facilities as they arise and deal with the consequences
- Plan for maintenance and future development in line with strategic business objectives
- Coordinate and share information with satellite sites to share learnings and planning.

**Desired Knowledge, Experience & Competencies**
- Knowledge or experience in building management or similar
- Computer literate
- Understanding of legislation in relation to workplace health and safety.
- Good interpersonal, relationship building and networking skills
- Procurement and negotiating skills / experience
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload, with the ability to work autonomously and flexibly, responding to business needs
- Good time management and project management skills
- Hands-on approach, with the ability to take the initiative
- Integrity and confidence in decision making

There will be some travel required to other UK facilities within the organisation.
