**The Role**
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented **Payroll Specialist** to take full ownership of our in-house payroll operations. You’ll be embedded in our Finance team (with a dotted line to HR), managing end-to-end UK payroll and supporting additional European regions in time. Your work will ensure everything runs smoothly, accurately, and in full compliance with all relevant regulations.
**What You’ll Do**

- Act as the internal expert for payroll queries from employees and managers
- Keep payroll records up to date and ensure HMRC and pension compliance
- Maintain and enhance our in-house payroll system and tooling
- Administer employee benefits such as pensions and ensure we are fully compliant with regulators
- Own payroll reporting, journal reconciliations, and data analysis for Finance
- Monitor UK and European payroll legislation changes to ensure the business is continuously compliant
**What You’ll Bring**
- Solid experience running UK payroll end-to-end, ideally in a lead or standalone capacity
- Deep understanding of UK payroll, tax, and pension regulations
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Confident working within finance systems (e.g. HRIS, accounting software, in-house tools)
- Proactive, collaborative approach—comfortable driving process improvements in a fast-paced team. Able to step into other areas of finance if needed.
**Nice to Have**
- Hands-on experience with **Xero** for payroll/accounting
- Exposure to a **start-up or scale-up** environment
- ** CIPP qualification** (or working towards it)
