**Your Opportunity**

As an Underwriting Apprentice within our Commercial business, you'll be contributing to the development and management of a specific area of insurance. You will be placed in either our Real Estate team or our Customer Distribution Team.

Within Real Estate you'll work with national and international Real Estate customers and our key broking partners. Your role could involve:
- Understanding the risks a customer can face and how our products and services can support them- Assessing what could go wrong for a customer and how we make sure we charge them the right amount to ensure we have enough funds available to support them when they need us- Review what kinds of situations need to be covered and make sure our policy is worded to provide the right protection- Building relationships and developing your negotiation skills to stronger work with our customers and partners.- Working with experienced underwriters who will support you and help you navigate a dynamic and rapidly changing insurance market.

In our Customer Distribution team, you will be part of one of the market leading team’s, a team that is the envy of our competitors Your role could involve:
- Negotiating with brokers and customers- Gaining insight into the legal environment of insurance- Understanding the insurance needs of some of the largest organisations- Learning how multinational programs are structured and issued- Providing further value and products to our customers by developing stronger relationships

**What can I look forward to?**

During your apprenticeship you’ll:
- Learn how to manage business relationships, determining and evaluating their insurance requirements and identifying opportunities to enhance their insurance programmes with us- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the insurance market and the various products and services- Understand the importance of being proactive in developing relationships and networks required to be successful while achieving business objectives and making sure the customers' needs are met- Discover more about the impact of change within the insurance market and how it affects your role and the wider organisation.- Build relationships with key stakeholders to support our customers and brokers needs- Work with and learn from an experienced team who will support you through your journey

Alongside your day-to-day work activities, you‘ll complete an Insurance Professional Level 4 Apprenticeship as well as an insurance industry recognised Diploma in Insurance via the Chartered Insurance Institute. The apprenticeship will take around 24 months.

We give you time to study as well as the opportunity to put what you learn into practice. Your qualification is just the start of your career at Zurich. Once your apprenticeship is complete you will have plenty of opportunities to put your new skills into practice while continuing to develop and grow.

**What you’ll need**:- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 including Maths and English- Minimum of three A Levels at A*- C (or equivalent)- Commitment & dedication to study an apprenticeship qualification- Appetite to learn and achieve professional qualifications.- Ability to use independent, analytical thinking- Eye for detail- A team player who enjoys working collaboratively and communicating with others.- Effective personal planning and organisation- Future thinking
