**Summary**:

- The International Engagement and Protocol Unit maximise economic and trade benefit from overseas and inward VIP visits. We strive to provide ministers and the Permanent Secretary with the best visits service in government and we act as a single point of contact for colleagues in HQ and overseas.
- Our work consists of:
- Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy Programme
- DIT Ministers’ Visits
- VIP Visits, including supporting State Visits
- Ministerial Trade Dialogues

We work closely with ministers’ private offices, press office, colleagues at post and in HQ to deliver high impact visits and events for our ministers and trade envoys and provide guidance to the department on issues of protocol.
- We are looking to appoint a Ministerial Programmes Officer to join our friendly, supportive, and busy team. Working closely with an SEO, the Ministerial Programmes Officer would cover specific geographical area assigned to their sub-team and be willing to work on other geographical areas according to business needs.

**Key Accountabilities**

What is the role?
- The post holder will be responsible, working with their manager, for the delivery of overseas and domestic Ministerial visits. This will include leading and co-ordinating visit logistics and the preparation of programmes and briefing, working closely with colleagues at HQ and posts overseas.
- The post holder will also be responsible for the delivery of business delegations and their programme when accompanying Senior Ministers on their trade-related overseas visits. This will include recruiting delegations, managing the visa process, devising the delegate programme, and working with posts overseas on the logistics.
- Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for supporting domestic activities for incoming visits by senior politicians, and other high-profile events, such as Government to Government trade dialogues, working in partnership with policy teams and live marketing, events, and communications colleagues.
- The role may require occasional overseas trips and some working outside normal office hours.

- Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.
- Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London salary.
- DIT will cover travel costs/expenses to any office which is not your usual office location in line with departmental expenses policy. DIT will not cover commuting costs to your agreed office location.-
**Responsibilities**:
**Essential Criteria**
- Confident operating in a fast moving, agile environment, and the ability to lead the delivery of visits working under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively within and across teams, the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the Department and Whitehall.
- Highly organised, proactive self-starter able to work flexibly across multiple priorities/projects and drive them forward to successful completion simultaneously.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience working within events/marketing/communications/private office.
- Experience working with ministers or senior stakeholders across government.
- Experienced and confident in using O365 including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Teams and Word.
- A problem-solving mindset.
