**About the Role**:
We are looking for a compassionate and motivated **SEMH Teaching Assistant**to join our caring and inclusive school community in Hastings. This is a rewarding opportunity to support a child with **social, emotional, and mental health needs**, helping them to build confidence, develop self-regulation skills, and thrive within the classroom environment.
You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent 1:1 support, using patience, empathy, and creativity to help the pupil overcome barriers to learning.
**Your Responsibilities**:
- Supporting a pupil with SEMH needs in both academic and social settings
- Promoting emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and self-esteem
- Adapting tasks and resources to suit individual learning styles
- Implementing strategies to manage behaviour and encourage engagement
- Building trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families to create a consistent support network
**About You**:
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Kind, patient, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people
- Able to build strong, nurturing relationships based on trust and respect
- Confident working as part of a collaborative school team
- Experienced in supporting pupils with SEMH or SEND (desirable, but not essential — training will be provided)
