**Brook Street (UK) Ltd are recruiting Category Officer's on behalf of one of Northern Ireland's biggest Public Sector Organisations; The Education Authority, based in Armagh.**

As **Category Officer** you will work at a **Senior Executive Officer Grade** within the **Procurement Department**, you will assist the Category Manager in the provision of best practice procurement and contract management services within a category area and manage a specialist area of work within Procurement Services whilst maintaining and providing an efficient and effective supervisory administrative support system to the daily functional and operational staff.

As Category Officer you will assist the Category Manager with managing the end-to-end procurement process to deliver value for money solutions for clients through out the Education Authority. You will liaise with stakeholders and public bodies daily.

The post will involve review of existing practices and identification and implementation of new solutions to the daily operational functions including analytics of data.

You will be proficient in MS Packages such as Excel, Outlook, and Word. You will be confident in the daily use of spreadsheets and databases and will conduct typing and word-processing duties as necessary.

**SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST**:

- Organise and manage a team of category assistants providing a best practice procurement approach
- Carry out an efficient Contract Management service within a category area or manage a specialist area of work within Procurement Services
- Practice supervisory responsibilities for staff organised in groups or teams as necessary and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of functional activities within a designated category area.
- Undertake research and investigation, analysis of results and devise recommendations.
- Exercise judgement or discretion within a framework of rule, practice and precedent and will be required to identify and select the most appropriate course of action from a range of options.

**TO APPLY, SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING**:
1) Hold a 3rd level qualification (HNC or above) or equivalent; and one year's demonstrable experience working in a procurement or purchasing environment planning and delivering procurement's for supplies, services or works

OR

2) Have two year's demonstrable experience in a procurement or purchasing environment planning and delivering procurement's for supplies, services or works.

OR

3) Have one year's demonstrable experience in supervision and management of staff in a procurement or administration function.

The rate of pay is £13.81 per hour, the hours of work are 0900-1700 Monday to Friday.
