Learning Support Assistant - Teaching Assistant

I am currently working in partnership with a specialist special educational needs school near Keighley who are looking to appoint learning support assistants, teaching assistants and support workers ahead of the summer term to ensure there is enough supportin place for the influx of new students and referrals they are expecting over Easter. Due to the needs of students and number of staff required there will be plenty of opportunity for a long-term permanent role within this educational setting.

The school is a specialist provision for students with severe and profound learning disabilities that provides a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for students aged 3-19. Each child in school has a personal educational health care plan (EHCP)which provides detailed and specialist information into their care and educational pathway meaning differentiation is paramount amongst students as children can move between learning pathways based on their needs and progress. Working as part of a large staffteam of class teachers, support assistants, activity leaders and the schools specialist medical team comprised of nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists you will be required to be flexible, proactive and use your own initiative to best supportstudents learning. The school provides specialist facilities, including a rebound room, a hydrotherapy pool, a sensory room and a multi-media studio, amongst other things to provide comprehensive and enriching learning environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Working 1-1, in small groups and across classes to support students where needed.
- Have relevant training including moving and handling training or be willing to undergo training.
- Experience working with young people with special educational needs is desirable but non-essential.
- Must be willing to provide personal care to students.
- Have a positive and friendly personality to best support and engage students.
- Be able to work as part of a holistic team and on own initiative when required.
- Support students in school and on excursions.
