Research Leader: Quantitative Researcher for Health
2 weeks ago
Position Summary: RAND Europe is a not-for-profit policy research organisation. Our mission is to help improve policy
- and decision-making through evidence-based research and analysis. We realise our mission by undertaking objective, balanced and relevant research, sharing the insights and information widely, and working in partnership with a range of clients and collaborators.
RAND Europe has offices in Cambridge and Brussels, and employs approximately 140 researchers: just over half of our research staff have doctorates with the balance holding other post-graduate degrees. Our work lies on the continuum between that of universities and consultancies, combining the academic rigour of universities and the professional, task orientated approach of consultancies. In addition to our strong ethos of evidence-based research, RAND Europe is a values-driven organisation, and our experience shows that our most successful researchers closely align their behaviours with our value set.
RAND Europe’s Health and Wellbeing Research Group focuses on research and analysis that aims to improve healthcare, health and wellbeing and public health. Our team of around two dozen researchers works at all levels of health policy, from individual initiatives to improve health service organisation and delivery to whole-system policy challenges and international policy issues.
The Health and Wellbeing Group includes people from a range of disciplines including health economics, epidemiology, public health, health services research, implementation science and quality improvement, psychology, and sociology. We work in a flexible and multi-disciplinary way, assembling teams for specific proposals and projects that draw on skills and capacity across the research group and beyond, including qualitative and quantitative methods, and drawing on the methodological innovations of RAND as a whole.
This breadth and depth of methods, topics and resources enables us to take on complex, multi-dimensional research challenges, and to stay at the forefront of research methods and policy issues. Our offices are in Cambridge and Brussels, and we work with clients throughout Europe and beyond
We wish to recruit an experienced **Senior Quantitative Researcher** to lead their own research portfolio within the Health and Wellbeing Group at RAND Europe. We anticipate that the successful applicant would lead a wide range of research projects for national and international clients and research funders from both the public and private sector. This will include leading all stages of proposals and projects, as well as taking a strategic approach to developing a broader area of research and the relationships, capacities and opportunities to realise it in practice. This post would suit those who have completed their Post-graduate training and have begun to establish themselves as independent researchers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and building a portfolio of quantitative research and analysis projects on health and wellbeing, including identifying opportunities, developing proposals and teams, and successfully delivering projects
- Ensuring and expanding good relations with research funders, clients, partners and policymakers, including developing new areas and ideas for research areas and how quantitative analysis can contribute to policy and decision-making;
- Contributing to high standards of rigorous quantitative analysis for the research group, including helping to develop staff capacity and innovative methods for the group as a whole.
You will bring passion related to the field of quantitative research on health and wellbeing, and flexibility and drive to contribute to an exciting portfolio of high impact research and analysis in order to inform policy and decision making.
You will have:
- A track record in developing, successfully funding, and delivering research, and experience in managing projects and budgets.
- Excellent skills in working as part of a team, leading and motivating others, mentoring and developing colleagues for career progression;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for varied audiences. Excellent English language skills are essential; additional EU language skills are an advantage.
