We receive reports about crimes from the police and other reporting agencies and then decide what action to take, including whether to prosecute someone. We also look into deaths that need further explanation and investigate allegations of criminal conduct against police officers.**Job description**: **General Responsibilities, Activities and Duties** As Finance Business Planning and Systems Officer, you will be a key member of the Finance Division and will report to one of the Finance Business Partner’s. You will also work closely with colleagues within the Finance team who deliver financial accounting functions. **Role Specific Responsibilities, Activities and Duties** **Payroll** - Process the payroll file from the payroll supplier each month and ensure it is uploaded to the Finance system within the set timescales. - Review BACS report ensuring it reconciles with the payroll report each month - Issue payroll reports to each part of the organisation in conjunction with the Finance Business Planners (FBPs) **Balance Sheet reconciliations** - Review and reconcile all relevant Balance Sheet account codes each month identifying and following up queries with HR. **Support to Finance Business Partners /Head of Management Accounting and Planning** - Provide support to FBPs by investigating queries, running ad hoc reports through Q&A in Excel - Assist with future costs modelling - Review historical trend spend to assist with future decision making - Review transaction reports for accuracy - Data analysis and interpretation - Assist with compilation of year end statutory accounts for both Kings’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer (KLTR) and COPFS as required **VAT** - Carry out initial VAT control checks to ensure correct VAT treatment working with the Finance Manager in the Financial Accounting Team **Fixed Asset Maintenance** - Provide support to the Finance Manager in Financial Accounting Team by inputting asset information to the finance system each month and ensuring the associated workbooks are updated. **Person specification**: **Essential Criteria Required** - Possession of a part qualification, either qualified Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or part qualified CCAB Accountants; - Experience of Financial Accounting and Management Accounting - Good knowledge of business planning and budget monitoring; - Excellent communication skills; - Experience of working with accounting and other software preferably including Sun Accounting system and Q&A; and electronic purchase ordering system - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including the use of Excel to an advanced level. **Desirable Criteria** - Experience or understanding of public sector budgets **Benefits**: We offer an excellent range of benefits which include: - 25 days paid holiday + 11.5 public and privilege holidays (rising to 30 days paid holiday after 4 years). - Flexible working hours and family friendly approach to work, including the ability for home working. - Cycle to Work Scheme and Season Ticket Loans. - Employee Wellbeing Support with Mental Health First Aiders and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
