Hexcel is currently seeking a Qualifications Team Leader for our Duxford, UK location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

- Lead qualification test programmes - in line with business needs - to ensure said programmes are delivered on-time, on-budget and consistent with customer expectations.
- Manage reporting staff (both engineers & technicians) to ensure their successful completion of defined goals.
- Ensure test data are analysed correctly and accurately documented in technical report format with detailed discussions based upon technical reasoning and management consensus.
- Resolve materials testing issues by self or by leading teams to ensure the integrity of qualification test data generated & reported by Hexcel.
- Read and approve associated technical reports internally and externally, to the standard expected with sound reasoning. It will be the job holder’s responsibility to sign the reports in their own right and be judged accordingly.
- Provide testing support to other business functions as appropriate.
- Ensure all project work is completed in compliance with all relevant customer/material specifications, quality standards and health, safety & environmental (HSE) requirements - for self & others - and to maintain accurate records in support of said compliance.
- To communicate effectively - as necessary - to all levels within the organisation & with external customers.
- To lead the recruitment process, motivate & develop reporting staff.
- To undertake and champion ancillary tasks (including 5S, LEAN, continuous improvement, etc.) in support of the day-to-day running of the Qualification department.

Qualifications:

- Strong composite materials background - ideally educated to PhD level in Engineering or Materials Science (a demonstrable knowledge of fibre reinforced composite materials testing will support lower degree class).
- Demonstrable record of fibre reinforced composite testing or the ability to acquire rapidly.
- Ability to analyse test data correctly - draw firm conclusions and where necessary - propose next steps.
- Ability to write accurate and concise technical reports with detailed discussions based on technical reasoning.
- Ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues and customers for technical capability.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of project management for external customer programmes.
- Experience of team management in pursuit of technical objectives.
